The Merchant Adventurers’ Hall was one of the first private venues to be licensed for civil ceremonies in York and is now one of the most popular outside the registery office.
The Hall is a romantic setting for large or small wedding parties. It can accomodate 20-180 guests for your ceremony. Large ceremonies take place in our timbered Great Hall, while small ceremonies (20 people or less) are held in our Governor’s Parlour.
Afterwards, celebrate with a banquet in the Great Hall and a bar, dance and entertainment in the Undercroft. In season, the Garden makes a lovely setting for drinks and photography after your ceremony.
Having both your ceremony and reception at the Hall makes the big day even more enjoyable for you and your guests- no one will get lost or delayed moving between the ceremony and reception, so you have more time to celebrate!
Even if you hold ceremony elsewhere, you can still use the Hall for your reception.
